Safeguarding

At Dunham on Trent C of E Primary School, the safety, happiness and wellbeing of our children are at the heart of school life.

We are delighted that our most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2025 confirmed that “the arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”

Ofsted also highlighted that:

  • Pupils feel safe at school and are part of a community where respect is at the heart of everything.
  • Pupils enjoy positive relationships with one another, with older children showing care towards younger pupils.
  • Children are keen to include everyone at playtime and there is mutual respect between pupils and staff.
  • Pupils are happy and confident and are proud to be members of the school.
  • Children are taught how to keep themselves safe in the community and online.
  • The school's values and ethos are visible across all areas of school life.
  • Pupils embrace the school's ethos of community and respect, showing very positive attitudes towards each other and staff.
  • Leaders have established strong relationships with pupils and families, helping to create a nurturing and supportive school community.

These findings are particularly important to us because safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We want every child to know that they are listened to, valued and supported, and that there are trusted adults in school who they can talk to if something is worrying them.

If you have a concern

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please do not keep your concern to yourself. We would always rather hear a concern, even if you are unsure, than have someone feel that they should not speak up. Please contact the school office on 01777 228383 and ask to speak to a member of our Designated Safeguarding Team. They will listen carefully, take your concern seriously and make sure it is passed to the appropriate person and dealt with in line with our safeguarding procedures.

Our approach reflects our vision:

“Learning for life, together we shine.”

and our values of Wisdom, Respect, Community and Hope.

Together, we create a school where children feel safe, cared for, included and confident to flourish. 🌳✨
